The lovely city of Srinagar is the summer capital of
the state of Jammu & Kashmir. It is popular for its lakes and the
amazing houseboats. The ethnic handicrafts and dry fruits of Srinagar
are so popular that they are exported to almost all parts of the country
and even abroad. Srinagar is located about 876 km north of Delhi and was
one of the most popular travel destinations of India once. Though
terrorism has done much damage to the city, it still retains its natural
charm and beauty.
Day 01: Srinagar
You will be received by our representative upon your arrival in
Srinagar. After you check in at the hotel and freshen up, you can take a
ride on any of the traditional houseboats called Shikaras, floating on
the Dal Lake and other water-bodies of Srinagar. Local people use these
boats for fishing, transportation, selling flowers, et al. You can also
witness demonstration on walnut woodcarving and papier mache handicraft
making. Have sumptuous dinner on deluxe houseboats and retire for the
night.
Day 02: Srinagar
You visit the three famous ancient Mughal Gardens on this day. The
first garden - Nishat Bagh, popularly called the Abode of Pleasure, was
built by Asif Khan, Emperor Jehangir's brother-in-law in 1632 AD. The
second Mughal garden, Shalimar Bagh, popularly called Abode of love, was
built by Jehangir for his wife, Noor Jehan. The third one is the Chashma
Shahi. All three Mughal Gardens are situated on the banks of Dal Lake
with the majestic Zabarwan Mountain in the background. You can also pay
a short visit to the carpet-weaving factories falling on the same route.
Dinner can be had on the deluxe houseboats. Overnight stay will be at
the houseboat.
Day 03: Srinagar Sightseeing
Go shopping for mementoes, gift items, ethnic handicrafts and other
knick knacks. There are many tastefully decorated antique and gift shops
in Srinagar markets. You can have supper or dinner at some restaurant or
on the Shikara houseboat. Overnight stay will be at the houseboat.
Day 04: Srinagar - Delhi
In the morning, you can go a short sightseeing tour of the city.
Thereafter, have your breakfast and then, leave for the airport to catch
a flight back Delhi. After reaching Delhi international airport, you
will catch a flight to your destination.
