Day 01: Arrival at Cochin / Kochi
After you arrive at the port city of Cochin, you will be escorted to
the hotel. After resting, you will go on a sightseeing tour and see the
ancient famous Chinese fishing nets, along the Vasco Da Gama Square,
Santa Cruz Basilica, St Francis Church and Bastion Bungalow among other
places. You spend the night at the hotel.
Day 02: Cochin - Munnar
In the morning, you leave Cochin for Munnar, a very scenic town with
waterfalls and undulating green hill slopes. Though at one time, Munnar
abounded in flora and fauna, you can still catch a glimpse of this rich
vegetation at any of the numerous protected areas nearby, like the
Kurinjimala Sanctuary, Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary, Eravikulam National
Park, Anamudi Shola National Park and so on. Overnight stay is at the
hotel.
Day 03: Munnar - Anamudi - Munnar
In the morning, you will have breakfast. Thereafter, you will visit the
nearby tea gardens at Anamudi. The rest of the day can be spent at
leisure. Night stay will be at the hotel.
Day 04: Munnar - Periyar
You reach Periyar today and check in at the hotel upon arrival. Later,
you go for boating in the Periyar Lake and explore the Periyar Wildlife
Sanctuary. Afternoon visit is to the spice plantations, growing
cardamom, cinnamon, pepper etc. While returning to the hotel, you can
halt and shop for spices in the local market. Night stay will be at the
hotel.
Day 05: Periyar Sightseeing
You tour the Periyar National Park today that covers an area of 350 sq
kms. It also often called the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. A major
portion of this protected region is covered with dense evergreen or
semi-evergreen rain forests. You will find very tall tropical tree
species here, like Vateria indica, Cullenia exarillata, etc, often
reaching a height of 40 metres or more. This park is home to
approximately 62 types of mammals, including many threatened ones like
Gaur, Sambar, Barking Deer, Leopard, and so on. Night stay is at the
hotel.
Day 06: Periyar - Kumarakom
You arrive at Kumarakom village today, which a cluster of islands on
the Vembanand Lake. You make a good tour of the noted bird sanctuary
here and then head on to take a brief ferry ride across Lake Vembanand.
Late in the evening, you return to your hotel room for a night stay.
Day 07: Kumarakom Overnight Houseboat Cruise
You board the houseboat from the Kumarakom jetty in the morning. While
sailing down Lake Vembanad, you pass through a maze of canals, seeing
scenes of the villages, paddy fields, coconut palms, fisherman and local
life. Since overnight stay is in the houseboat, you will have a lip
smacking lunch, dinner and the next day breakfast onboard.
Day0 8: Alleppey
The houseboat ride from Kumarakom will conclude at Alleppey. After
reaching there, you will check into a backwater resort, where you spend
the night.
Day 09: Alleppey- Cochin
In the morning, you will leave for Cochin. You spend the entire day
sightseeing and shopping. In the evening, you can go to see a Kathakali
dance presentation. Overnight stay will be at the hotel.
Day 10: Cochin Departure
After breakfast, you will be escorted to the airport/ railway station
from where you board the flight/train for your onward destination.
