Day 01: Arrival at Chennai
After you arrive at Chennai city of Tamil Nadu, you will be received by
our representative at the railway station / airport. He /she will escort
you to your hotel, where you spend the night.
Day 02: Chennai Sightseeing
You go for a full day sightseeing tour of Chennai today. Chennai,
earlier called Madras, is the capital of Tamil Nadu and also the fourth
largest metropolitan city in India. It is popular for its classical
dance programmes and Hindu temples. The highlights of this city include
George Town, which embodies interesting landmarks dating from the
British days like, Fort St George, St Mary's Church and so on. You rest
at the hotel during the night.
Day 03: Chennai - Madurai
After breakfast, you continue with the Chennai sightseeing tour during
the first half of the day. You visit the Weslyan and Armenian churches
on the Popham's Broadway, the 19th-century Indo-Saracenic High Court,
etc. You get back at the hotel by afternoon, collect your luggage and
leave for the railway station, from where you board an overnight train
to the city of Madurai.
Day 04: Madurai Sightseeing
After arriving at Madurai, you will be escorted to a hotel. After
resting for a while, you leave for a sightseeing tour in the afternoon.
Madurai was once the capital city of the Pandya kings of South India.
Today, it is the second largest city in Tamil Nadu. Important places you
will see here include the grand Meenakshi Temple, Vanditur Mariamman
Teppakulam - a 17th century tank covering an area equal to that of six
Meenakshi temples, Koodal Azhaar Temple and Gandhi Museum. Night stay is
at the hotel.
Day 05: Madurai - Periyar
After having breakfast, you will be driven down to the nearby Periyar
National Park, a protected area and a Project Tiger nature reserve. A
major portion of this protected region is covered with dense evergreen
or semi-evergreen rain forests. Here, you will find very tall tropical
tree species, like Vateria indica and Cullenia exarillata, often
reaching to a height of 40 metres or more. This park is home to
approximately 62 types of mammals, including many threatened ones like
Gaur, Sambar, Barking Deer, Leopard, and so on. Night stay is at the
hotel in Periyar.
Day 06: Periyar - Trivandrum
You leave Periyar to reach Trivandrum today. After some rest, you spend
the second half of the day seeing Shri Padmanabhaswamy Temple,
Padmanabhapuram Palace, Attukal Bhagavathy Temple and other tourist
attractions. A stroll in the local markets is also possible. You get
back to the hotel for rest and stay for the night.
Day 07: Trivandrum Sightseeing
You spend the whole day sightseeing today. So after an unhurried
breakfast, you head for the Shankhumugham beach, located just eight
kilometers from Trivandrum. People flock here to see the beautiful
sunset and chill out along its sandy shores. 'Matsya Kanyaka', a huge 35
m long sculpture of a mermaid and a starfish shaped restaurant located
in this area are big crowd pullers. Night stay is at the Trivandrum
hotel.
Day 08: Trivandrum - Cochin (Kochi)
After breakfast, you leave for the railway station to catch a train to
Cochin city of Kerala. After you reach your destination, you check in at
the hotel. Go for a stroll in the evening. Spend the night in your hotel
room.
Day 09: Cochin - Bangalore
You will go on a brief sightseeing tour of Kochi today. Earlier known
as Cochin, this port city has gained a reputation of being a major
commercial-cum-tourist region in South India. There are many interesting
places here that you can see like the Jewish synagogue, Portuguese
churches, mosques, temples, Chinese Fishing Nets. You can also check out
local cuisines at any of the good restaurants here. By afternoon, you
reach the railway station to catch your overnight train to Bangalore.
Day 10: Bangalore Sightseeing
After you arrive at Bangalore, you check in at the hotel. The city is
also known as the 'Garden City of India', because of its moderate
climate and lush greenery. There are many public parks here, like the
Lal Bagh and Cubbon Park. While here, you can visit the Bangalore Palace
and Fort built by Kempe Gowda and later expanded by Tippu Sultan. Within
its precincts is the well preserved 16th century Ganapathi Temple. Other
notable places of interest include Government Museum, the
Gangadhareshwara Temple, the Dharmaraja Temple, etc. Night stay will be
at the hotel.
Day 11: Bangalore - Mysore
You arrive at the railway station on time to catch the train to Mysore
city. After reaching your destination, you check in at the hotel. You
will unpack and rest for the day. Overnight stay will be at the hotel.
Day 12: Mysore Sightseeing
You will leave on a full day sightseeing spree today. Covering an area
of 128 km, Mysore is the second largest city in the state of Karnataka.
The city is a popular tourist destination because of its palaces and
proximity to several other places of interest like Srirangapatna,
Sivasamudram Falls, and Krishna Raja Sagara Dam. You can see the Mysore
Palace, Jaganmohan Palace, Chamundi Hill, St. Philomena's Church,
Brindavan Gardens and other places. Night stay is at the hotel.
Day 13: Mysore - Chennai
After having breakfast and luggage packing, you can spend the morning
at leisure. You can also explore the local markets here. In the
afternoon, you reach the railway station to catch the train for Chennai.
After you arrive at Chennai, you will be escorted to the hotel, where
you will check in and stay overnight.
Day 14: Chennai - Onward destination
In the morning, you will be escorted to the airport / railway station
to catch the flight / train for your next destination.
