Day 01: Arrival at Chennai
After you arrive at the Chennai International Airport, you will be met
by our representatives and escorted to the hotel. Some time later, you
leave for a sightseeing tour of Chennai. Visit the sprawling Marina
Beach and then proceed to see the Adyar Banyan Tree, Light House, St
Mary's Church and Anna Memorial. Return to the hotel in the evening and
stay overnight.
Day 02: Chennai - Kanchipuram - Mahabalipuram
You leave for the famous temple city of Kanchipuram in the morning. It
is called a temple city because there are 1000 temples here that reflect
on its glorious heritage. Important temples include Sri Ekambareswara
Temple, Sri Kailasanathar Temple and the Sri Vardaraja Perumal Temple.
The next destination is Mahabalipuram, a 7th century port city. After
reaching, you check in at the hotel and spend the night.
Day 03: Mahabalipuram - Tanjore
You leave for Tanjore, halting at Pondicherry that falls en route. Main
tourist attractions in Pondicherry are Arikamedhu, Auroville,
Bharatidasan Museum, Botanical Garden, Government Square, etc. On
reaching Tanjore, you check in at the hotel and rest for the night.
Day 04: Tanjore - Trichy
There are many tourist spots to visit in and around Tanjore like
Brihadeeswara Temple, Saraswathi Mahal Library, Tamil University, and so
on. Also known as the rice bowl of Tamil Nadu, Tanjore is renowned for
its handicrafts. After having a short sightseeing tour of the city in
the morning, you leave for Trichy in the afternoon. Check in at the
hotel and rest for the night.
Day 05: Trichy - Madurai
The ancient city of Trichy has gradually emerged as a flourishing
commercial center in Tamil Nadu, in the modern times. Trichy is famous
as a manufacturing centre for artificial diamonds, cigars, handloom
cloth, glass bangles and wooden and clay toys. Important tourist spots
here include the Rock Fort Temple, Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple,
Jambukeshwara Temple, Vayaloor, St. John's Church, etc. Later in the
day, you drive down to Madurai, check in at the hotel on arrival and
rest overnight.
Day 06: Madurai Sightseeing
Madurai, also known as the 'Athens of the East', is the oldest and
second largest city of Tamil Nadu. It's located on the river Vaigai and
once used to be the capital of Pandyan rulers. Though Mudurai comprises
a huge range of tourist attractions, the top most slot is occupied by
the magnificent Meenakshi Sundareswarar twin Temple. The area of this
temple complex is about 65000 sq metres, which is one of the largest in
India. Other must-see places include the Tirumalai Nayak Palace, Gandhi
Museum Mariamman Teppakkulam Tank, etc. Night stay is at the hotel.
Day 07: Madurai - Chennai
After breakfast, you will be escorted to the Madurai airport, from
where you board the flight back to Chennai. From Chennai, you will catch
the flight to your onward destination.
